The Power of Words
By Drakaris Thalion
A whisper can cradle, a whisper can slay,
A sentence can anchor, a sentence can stray.
They float in the silence, they crash in the storm,
They shatter the broken, they shelter the warm.
A phrase can ignite, or a phrase can destroy,
A tale can bring sorrow, a tale can bring joy.
A truth can be bitter, a truth can be sweet,
A lie can bring ruin, a lie can deceit.
A poet may carve what a nation recalls,
A tyrant may speak and the greatest one falls.
A promise can strengthen, a promise can bind,
A secret can linger, a secret can blind.
A whisper can comfort, a whisper can harm,
A sentence can panic, a sentence can calm.
They travel through ages, they never decay,
They echo through time, they never betray.
A speech can bring courage, a speech can inspire,
A leader can waken, a leader can fire.
A rebel may challenge, a rebel may plead,
A ruler may conquer, a ruler may bleed.
A book may outlive the man who first wrote,
A lesson may guide, a lesson may float.
A song may be carried through wind and th8rough wave,
A verse may be sung at the edge of a grave.
A prayer can be whispered with fear in the chest,
A curse can be spoken with hate manifest.
A name may be sacred, a name may be cursed,
A line may be written, a line may be versed.
So wield them with honour, let wisdom take hold,
For words are immortal, their weight is untold.
They linger in echoes, they burn and they mend,
For words hold the power to start and to end.
