A Love Everlasting
I remained by your grave as the candles burned
Through sorrow and loss, my heart has learned
Two names carved where none should be
For you belonged right here with me
The wind carried echoes of words unsaid
Memories tangled inside my head
No whispered farewell, no final embrace
Just silence left in an empty space
You slipped away, I had no say
Death took you both that fateful day
Not just you, but the life we made
A child unborn, yet love displayed
Within your womb, our baby grew
A soul so pure, I never knew
No cries were heard, no breath was drawn
Two hearts silenced, forever gone
I held you close, then let you go
The coldest farewell I will ever know
No time for laughter, no time to stay
Just love unfinished, swept away
I traced your face in broken dreams
Still hear your voice in gentle streams
Your hands once warm, now lost to time
Yet still, you linger, still, you shine
I placed coins beside your stone
For ice cream we should have known
A simple gift, yet one unpaid
A promise made but then betrayed
Do you taste the sweetness where you stand
Do angels guide your gentle hand
I close my eyes and hear your tune
You hum beneath the silver moon
The years have passed, yet pain remains
Though softened now in love’s refrain
Twenty years on, I feel you near
Not lost, not gone, just waiting here
No longer sorrow, no bitter pain
Just whispered joy in falling rain
No tears from heaven, just love so bright
That glows within the softest light
I see you now in winds that call
In golden leaves that rise then fall
Not in sorrow, not in stone
But in my heart, where you have grown
Your presence hums in whispered sighs
In pink-drenched dawns and velvet skies
A love so deep, it cannot end
A bond unbroken, time will not bend
No hands to hold, yet still you stay
No voice to hear, yet words convey
I am with you, do not grieve
Love is here, it will not leave
I stand where silence softly speaks
Beneath the stars, where longing peaks
Yet love outlives the fleeting past
Through every breath, it holds steadfast
I hear your song in ocean waves
In fields that bloom above your grave
In petals drifting, in winds so free
You breathe through all surrounding me
The pain still lingers, yet light remains
Love untouched by earthly chains
Not lost, not gone, not cast aside
But shining bright, my soul’s own guide
Through endless years, through shifting tide
Through every place where love reside
Your voice still hum, your spirit sing
Carried soft on angel’s wing
No distance great, no time too wide
No force could steal what fate design
No end exist, no need to mourn
For love like ours is never torn
I carry you now in all I do
In whispered dreams, in skies so blue
No need to kneel, no need to pray
For you are with me every day
Your laughter rings in morning’s glow
In silver light where soft winds blow
No heart beats lonely, no love is lost
For bonds like ours surpass all cost
Please place our infinite kiss on my lips
A moment that time nor fate eclipse
I will thank the stars, the heavens above
For blessing me with eternal love
A Love Everlasting

A Love Everlasting is not just a poem. It is a piece of my soul, written in memory of my fiancée Joanne 1983 to 2005 and our unborn daughter Meisha. It is the weight of love that was never meant to end, the ache of dreams that never had the chance to begin, the silence where laughter should have lived.
I remained by their grave as the candles burned, their light flickering against the cold stone. Coins rested at the base, a promise I could never keep. I placed them there for the ice cream I never got to buy, for the moments stolen before my baby could exist. The world kept moving but I did not. I stood where they rested, carrying their names in my heart, feeling the weight of what was and what would never be.
Time did not erase the pain. It did not lessen the loss. But it taught me that love is not bound by breath. It lingers in the wind, in the rustling of autumn leaves, in the golden glow of the setting sun. Love does not die. Joanne and Meisha are not just names carved in stone. They are not just memories lost to time. They are a part of me, always present, always guiding, always near.
This is more than words on a page. It is a testament to the love that will never fade, to the connection that time and death cannot sever. Their absence does not mean they are gone. They are here in every heartbeat, in every whisper of the world around me. A Love Everlasting.
